Madison, Wis. has long been a community that embraces local food. The Dane County Farmers’ Market is held at the Capitol Square from April to November and several other smaller farmers’ markets are in the Madison area. Restaurants in Madison frequently feature ingredients from local farmers.

Slow Food UW is a University of Wisconsin – Madison student organization that supports local food in the Madison area. This past fall, I have been gathering information about Slow Food UW in order to gain a better understanding of what the organization does and how it falls in line with Madisonian ideas about local food. I have always been interested in food and where it comes from. After going to Slow Food UW cafes several times, I thought it would be interesting to dig into the organization in order to find out more about what they do and where their food comes from.
